Overwave privacy
Overwave is a TV player. It is designed to need as little from you as possible.
What stays on your Mac
Favorites, folders, imported playlists, recently watched history and the refreshed catalogue are saved on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/. Appearance and volume are saved in the app's preferences. None of this is sent to Hit the Deck Software.
What Overwave connects to
- The iptv-org API (iptv-org.github.io), only when you choose Refresh, to update the channel catalogue.
- Broadcaster and CDN servers, directly, for video streams and channel logos. These servers can see your IP address like any website or player would, and they are outside our control.
- Playlist addresses you provide, if you import an M3U from a web address.
- GitHub releases, through the Sparkle updater, to check for and download signed updates. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings.
- Google Chrome and Google's Cast SDK, only if you use the experimental Cast controller. The controller runs from a loopback address on your Mac, and your device list is handled by Google.
What Overwave does not do
No account or login, no analytics or telemetry, no advertising identifiers, no location permission and no recording of streams.
